Brenda Uwase

Through my experience with Harambee, I have gained valuable experience in teamwork, where we were trained to collaborate effectively, leading to success for both individuals and the entire team. Currently, I hold the position of DSR at the Bank of Kigali (BK), which commenced at the end of January.

The skills I acquired during my training at Harambee, particularly in public speaking and self-confidence, have greatly aided me in my role. As a Direct Sales Representative, my responsibilities primarily involve marketing and acquiring new customers, and these skills have been instrumental in my success.

Mireille Muhawenimana

The skills I learned at Harambee were instrumental in spotting the right opportunities, transforming my CV and boosting my interview techniques. This has significantly advanced my career as I was able to secure a job at Deriv on my first attempt. but I also learnt effective networking skills that enabled me to build a strong relationship with the IT team. When an opening arose, they recommended me based on my qualifications and background. I started in Customer Support and, thanks to the skills and support I’ve received, I quickly moved up to my dream role in the IT department.

Eric Kagame

My experience with Harambee was incredibly positive and transformative. Initially, it was challenging, but I soon adapted and began to value being on time and present at all required moments.

The one-month training I went through was both educational and entertaining, offering an inclusive growth experience. Harambee also equipped me with skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, creative problem-solving, and public speaking. These skills have been invaluable in my personal and professional development.

Today, I am proud to say that I run my own business—a restaurant and bar, Harambee played a significant role in shaping my entrepreneurial journey and success.

Devota Nyokwizerwa

I joined Harambee in 2021 after earning my bachelor’s degree.

 While I had basic English skills, Harambee introduced me to practical, real-world English. Over several months, Harambee nurtured my language abilities and enhanced my communication, networking, and pitching skills. Through various participatory techniques used during the training, Harambee successfully bridged the gap between the theoretical English I knew and the practical skills I needed.

 This training has been instrumental in my career in the textile industry. I interact with many English-speaking clients daily and frequently use the skills I acquired at Harambee to manage the networks I’ve built during my international business trips. These skills have been crucial in sustaining the ladies’ clothing store I have owned since 2022.

Herve Usabimana Shimwa

I joined the Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator in September 2023, and it was a turning point for me. This supportive community provided essential skills for excelling in any work environment.

 Harambee transformed my professional skills, by offering lessons on workplace behaviours, energy, and professional English. While I already spoke English well, Harambee taught me to adapt it to professional settings, boosting my confidence and communication skills.

I learned to maintain a positive attitude at work, which helped me stand out. The emphasis on professional English enabled me to express myself clearly and confidently, leading to my current job.

 Through Harambee, I received many opportunities, including Unleash Rwanda. Now, as a Customer Support Agent at betPawa, I am grateful for the skills and confidence Harambee gave me, which were crucial in landing this position. I look forward to continuing my professional journey with the foundation they helped me build.

Teta Mukama

I joined Harambee in July 2023. I have learned work etiquette, how to express myself effectively, and the importance of presentation. I have also practised articulating my words clearly to prepare for interviews, explaining my CV, and convincing others. Additionally, I’ve developed strong communication skills. In September 2023, I began my role as a Team Leader and have since progressed to the position of Operations Manager.

Frank Rebero

In February 2024, I joined Harambee to enhance my professional skills. Within three weeks of enrollment, I was invited to participate in an English language assessment. This evaluation provided valuable insights into my strengths and areas for improvement. Subsequently, I completed a comprehensive two-week training program that was both intensive and rewarding.

During the training, I honed my communication skills through engaging activities such as debates, impromptu speeches, and group discussions. Additionally, I acquired essential computer skills, including speed typing. The program’s emphasis on practical application ensured that I could immediately leverage these skills in my professional life.

Harambee’s holistic approach equipped me with the tools necessary for career success. I developed strong communication abilities, time management skills, teamwork competencies, and a deep understanding of professional etiquette. These skills have been invaluable in my current role as a sales agent at CCI Rwanda, a position I secured with the support of Harambee.

Since joining CCI Rwanda in May 2024, I have applied the knowledge and skills gained from Harambee to excel in my daily tasks and contribute meaningfully to the team.

Ghislaine Uwera

I registered with Harambee in July 2023, and the bridge program lasted for a month. My experience was incredibly rewarding as I learned various work skills, including communication, confidence, public speaking, listening, empathy, and more. Harambee connected me with CCI, and I made new friends. The facilitators were fantastic, making the learning process enjoyable and effective. Thanks to the skills I acquired, I was able to land a job as a call centre representative and later advanced to a front desk executive at CCI Rwanda. The training helped me with work readiness, adaptability, and building professional relationships, contributing significantly to my growth.

I registered with Harambee in September 2023, and my experience has been truly transformative. Harambee helped me enhance my work ethic and upskill in a collaborative environment with like-minded individuals. Through their programs, I was able to improve my professional communication, public speaking, and overall work ethic. These skills have greatly contributed to my growth. Since March 2024, I have been working as a CSAM (Cybersecurity Asset Management) Assistant at TeKnowledge, and I am grateful for the support and knowledge I gained through Harambee.
